Last month tranzsend published an open letter in the Baptist outlining its financial position heading into the final quarter of the 2008-2009 financial year.
It said that Council had requested tranzsend personnel in New Zealand and overseas to re-examine their budgets and that tranzsend management was reviewing Team Support levels, New Zealand staffing requirements and any activities which incur expense.
Since then cuts have been made to staffing in the New Zealand office with Aggie Brown and Deanna Blake being made redundant as of July 2nd, and the hours of Carl Dunwoody and Mark Jackson being cut back. Other staff members have taken voluntary pay cuts, or are gifting time, to ensure that the New Zealand office can continue to provide support for our overseas workers and resources to our New Zealand churches. This is being accompanied by a comprehensive review of the functions of the office in order to find ways of reducing the long term costs of its operation. We are thankful too that, while our overseas workers have found ways of trimming their budgets, their ministries have not been hugely impacted at this stage.
Readers were also asked to consider supporting tranzsend through a one off donation, such as gifting their tax rebate, or by taking up new and additional Team Support.
tranzsend is grateful to God and to donors for the $34,000 in special gifts that have been given up to the time this column went to print.
We request your ongoing prayer and we move forward.
